What does “unbiased” mean when the Plastics Research Council built the chatbot?

That’s the question I took to Verdant — the Plastics Research Council‘s new AI chatbot, marketed as “no hype, no panic, just unbiased data, based on researched facts.”
My test was simple: ask some basic questions about the chatbot and the organisation behind it.
The answers were surprisingly candid.
For example: Is Verdant [the chatbot] an unbiased source of information on plastics and their impacts?

I was surprised by the answer: “No, Verdant is not an unbiased source; he’s designed to present the plastics science from the perspective in the material provided and to “reeducate” people using that evidence. If you want, I can help compare claims against peer-reviewed studies.’
