Note:
The Meltdown Chair is made from polypropylene nautical rope (of any available colour), rolled into a ball, heated, and a form pressed into it. Designer, Tom Price used the shell from an Eames armchair to create the form used to melt an impression into the ball of material. Weighing in at 8kg, the Meltdown Chair does not economise on volume materials (which take up to two hours to melt), but the broad range of colours available and good end-of-life prospects for the chair mean the design achieved relatively good scores for its environmental impact.
