Note:
Designed by Fabio Novembre for Driade in 2010, this version, the Nemo Green, was introduced in 2021. Made from post industrial waste from internal production, and post-consumer waste including PET, the material cannot be recycled at end of life. This very heavy chair (35kg) \ is only available in one colour. While achieving full marks for being completely made from recycled plastic this design failed to score for any of the other attributes measured in my analysis. Such an enormous quantity of material consumes huge resources during the production of the material itself and in the heat required to heat and mould the product. More energy is then consumed to transport the chair (individually in cartons) and then, at the end of life there is a large amount of material to dispose of. Still the sustainable version of this chair is preferable, from an environmental perspective, compared with the original design. Fabio Novembre was born in Lecce in 1966 and got his bachelor's degree in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1992. Fabio Novembre became famous through a large series of projects for restaurants, discotheques and shops, both in Italy and abroad, and with his unique pieces of furniture designed for Cappellini and many others.
