Note:
Made of moulded fibreglass reinforced polyester, the Pastil chair can be used outdoors all year round. It can be used to sleigh down a hill or will even float if used in a swimming pool! However, Aarnio realised the Pastil chair was rather unstable when used as a float and went on to create the Tomato chair, in 1971, to specifically address this issue. The deceivingly simple design allows the back and arm rests to be created from the single hollow. The Pastil was awarded the American Industrial Award in 1968. The Pastil chair was designed to utilise the void within the hollow mass of the Ball chair, allowing for more economical shipping. Originally made by Asko, the Pastil chair is still available from Eero Aarnio Originals.
